Akane Tendo meets her new fiancé, Ranma Saotome, a martial arts prodigy with a twist: he magically transforms into a girl upon touching cold water.
A mysterious martial artist arrives at Furinkan High looking to settle a score with Ranma. Later, the school becomes a battlefield.
Akane gets caught up in Ryoga and Ranma's fight and ends up with a shocking new appearance. Ranma, worried, abandons the battle and goes after her.
When the Furinkan High rhythmic gymnastics team is injured by a rival school's captain, its members beg Akane to take their place in an upcoming match.
With Akane injured, Ranma takes her place and stays up all night practicing. The next day, the match begins with Kodachi's usual underhanded tricks.
