Scudieri's life changes: he and his wife are involved in a shootout. She loses the baby. Dejected, he immerses himself in work; he asks his friend Gennaro for help, who is later found dead.

Gennaro is dead. Scudieri, feeling responsible, takes care of his son: to be with him during the day, he requests a transfer to the UDIN, Special Intervention Unit, working only at night.

At UDIN Alessandro finds new colleagues and a certain initial distrust. He works alongside them on the murder of a girl, but the obsession with the "thermal lance gang" persists.

Diego understands that he is about to be sent to a foster home and so, he runs away. The escape unites Alessandro and Paola again. This common intent could smooth out tensions between the two.

A woman threatens to end it all: Paola witnesses the scene. The audacity of Alessandro's team manages to save her; this complicity leads to a passionate encounter between Paola and her husband.

A car transporter is stolen. In the video of the theft, Alessandro "notices" a face: the investigation begins with the help of the old team, but the gang is always one step ahead. Meanwhile, Paola is doubtful.

The murder of a Pakistani boy reveals that the gang robbed an illegal Arab bank, stealing information from the Police Headquarters archive. The suspicion of a mole is increasingly stronger.

Faced with Diego's rejection of the idea of a foster family, Paola understands how important she and Alessandro are for the child and decides to adopt him.

While Alessandro and Paola find some harmony again, the team investigates the theft of the relics of San Ciro. Meanwhile, Paola discovers that Gennaro, Diego's father, was her husband's informer.

The thief of the relics, suspected of being part of the "gang", is mysteriously run over. Tired of the lies, Paola decides to leave Alessandro, but something upsets all her plans.

For Diego's sake, happy to be able to spend time with his mother, Paola, aware of not being able to have children, grants Cristiana a second opportunity despite Alessandro's doubts.

The investigations into Ausiello's death lead to the gang's hideout, but the mole warned them by finding an empty farmhouse. Here Gennaro's blood is found: Tarek is exonerated.

Cristiana, who has started taking drugs again, makes Diego lose track of her.

The car used to run over Ausiello has been found: a detail leads Alessandro to hypothesize the nature of the next hit. Diego searches for his mother, but runs into Tarek and confronts him with a gun.

The shot fired misses Tarek. Alessandro cleverly makes the evidence disappear, but someone has filmed the scene. He and Paola thus lose custody of Diego and the possibility of adopting him.

The gang pulls off yet another heist by robbing the courthouse vault. During the investigations, Alessandro understands who the mole hidden in the police station is.
