Daily coverage of the Royal Welsh Show.
Europe's premier rural event, the Royal Welsh Show, kicks off and Sara Edwards, Rachael James and Rhys Jones follow the week's early competitions and displays, from the main ring to the cattle ring to the horticultural tent. Hooves, wool, petals and feathers - the show's first day has them all. And in the main ring, the Kangaroo Kid is back to stun the crowds with his amazing stunts.
The second day of the event features Welsh mountain ponies, axe-racing and the spectacle of the team of five in the cattle ring. People come from far and wide to the show, including the performers. Frenchman Jean Francois Pignon gives the crowds around the main ring a display of horsemanship, and the crowds are also treated to the sight of an RAF Lancaster Bomber fly-past in a Battle of Britain memorial flight.
It is the biggest day of the week with many of the major championships taking place, including one of the show's most unique spectacles - the Welsh cob stallions thundering around the main ring in pursuit of the coveted prizes. Elsewhere on the showground, we will see falconry displays, shearing and the new, furry occupants of the Fur and Feather pavilion.
It is the last day, but the competition is as fierce as ever, and the displays as spectacular as ever.
We get to know some of the young people competing at the show, as well as those who go there to socialise, and find out what the Royal Welsh week means to them. Native cattle breeds, machinery and rugby are all part of the mix. We also go behind the scenes and find out how the animals are kept in such pristine condition for their week's holiday in Mid Wales.
The best moments from the 2009 Royal Welsh Show. Sara Edwards, Rachael James and Rhys Jones lead us through the highlights of the four-day event. The serious business of competition on the one hand and the serious business of having fun on the other!
