Next Episode of Sandi's Great British Woodland Restoration is
unknown.
British TV legend and QI host Sandi Toksvig and her wife Debbie have fulfilled their life-long dream of buying an ancient woodland. Dating from 1600, this beautiful 40-acre site is home to trees, streams, meadows, and a melting pot of species from fungi to foxes, lichens to little owls. But, as Sandi discovers, it's overgrown, diseased and in need of serious TLC. Can they save their wood?
Sandi and Debbie get the chainsaw out and the safe shoes on as they set out to bring light, space and biodiversity to the wood through the winter months, as the restoration begins.
After a cold winter, Sandi's wood 'springs to life' as she and wife Debbie start to focus on creating suitable habitats for woodland creatures. They build a wildlife pond to increase the biodiversity and tree surgeons make a 200-year-old beech tree safe. Sandi's budget is stretched because of local fly-tipping, as she has to fork out thousands of pounds on fencing.
As summer arrives, Sandi Toksvig and her wife Debbie fell trees, build wildlife ponds, release orphaned owls into the wild and welcome new life and the sunshine back into the once overgrown forest. They also battle fly-tipping and illegal off-roading through their woods. Sandi visits a newly planted woodland, ropes in some bat specialists and brings a beaver group from a local school to learn about nature, before she and Debbie reflect on the journey they've been on as they appreciate the beauty of the landscape around them.
