In the Sahel, a group of young soldiers from the 22nd Infantry Regiment of the French Army is ambushed. During what was to be a reconnaissance mission, these volunteers find themselves ambushed. The reinforcements were slow to come to their aid and over the hours the situation got bogged down. In this almost desert valley, thousands of kilometers from their homes and under enemy fire, what are those who signed up a few months before dreaming? And why had they done it? Was it for the love of the motherland and the defense of its interests? Or did they enlist for travel, pay, and automatic rifles?
Installed in Romania for a few hours, Captain Lefort's men train as part of their NATO mission and kill boredom by looking for something to feed the regiment's popote. But contact with local populations, weakened by the large number of Ukrainians who have been fleeing for 48 hours, is proving tense for Romani, Moineau and Djibril. In Ukraine, the situation is getting more complicated: it will be impossible to leave the country by air, it will be necessary to reach Romania by road. A very long journey.
Faced with the first horrors of the war, the convoy was blocked by an air strike that hit a Ukrainian village. Anais and Ravalet find themselves, in spite of themselves, with Ukrainian soldiers, ambushed in front of Russian paras. In Romania, Moineau, Romani and Djibril have to manage the consequences of their poker game with Roma that went wrong.
Lefort is questioned by the Americans who suspect him of being a spy informing the Russians, while Colonel Audras tries to exonerate him. At the same time, Romani, Moineau and Djibril wonder how to repay their debt of 10,000 euros without being fired from the army. On the Ukrainian side, there is still a long way to go and refueling with essence in a country at war is not easy.
Blocked in the minefield, the convoy is however only a hundred kilometers from the Romanian border. Anaïs decides to try the shot by passing the first and marking the passage between the buried mines. At the risk of his life? Unless our French soldiers, on their base not far from the border, can help the convoy.
