Classic British comedy series about a middle aged man and his elderly father who run an unsuccessful 'rag and bone' business (collecting and selling junk). Harold (the son) wants to better himself but his father always seems to ruin things, sometimes accidentally and other times deliberately. The two live in poverty and the father has some disgusting habits which continue to embarrass the son.
Harold finally gets to the altar with Albert as his best man, but at the last moment his bride, changes her mind
Later back at the house Harold rows with the family, when they want their presents back and he throws them out.
Albert gets locked in the outhouse while Harold finds a rare piece of porcelain.
Harold decides that he wants central heating for the house and plans to install the system himself.
When a summons is delivered from the local butcher, the Steptoes barricade themselves in the house.
Harold decides to rent his own apartment so he can have some privacy, leaving Albert on his own.
Harold advances his political ambitions by hosting a labor party meeting at home, but his father Albert, a Tory supporter, attempts to disrupt it.
Harold takes Albert on a trip to France to visit the old battlefields; on the flight, Albert can't keep his opinions to himself.
Looks like something went completely wrong!
