Strike it Lucky was a long running quiz show that was hosted by the manic comedian Michael Barrymore, three teams of two answer various multiple choice questions to try and win and go through to the big money end game where the contestants have the chance of winning the jackpot of £3,000 (£10,000 in the later Strike It Rich editions). As from 12 December 1996 the show was retitled Strike It Rich with bigger money prizes and sparklier lights, the jackpot was also upped from £3,000 to £10,000.
The show's last episode was broadcast in late 1999, at this time Barrymore was engaged in many other projects which included Michael Barrymore's My Kind of People, Barrymore, Michael Barrymore's My Kind of Music, Kids Say The Funniest Things and Animals Say The Funniest Things. However, in March 2001 a dead man was discovered in the swimming pool of Barrymore's home and following this he was sacked by ITV and all of his shows were cancelled including Strike It Rich.
