The Battle to Beat Polio

The Battle to Beat Polio is a medical documentary. Stephanie Flanders' father Michael best known as one half of world-famous comic duo Flanders & Swann managed to survive after contracting polio as a young man but the effect of the paralysis meant he spent the rest of his life in a wheelchair. Stephanie learns more about about the treatments that he would have endured and finds out about the rivalries that dominated the search for a vaccine for the disease.
