The British Soap Awards

Phillip Schofield hosts one of the most exciting, glamorous and talked-about nights in the showbiz calendar. The British Soap Awards honours the incredible achievements in the nation's biggest and most popular television shows. Coronation Street, Doctors, EastEnders, Emmerdale and Hollyoaks will once again go head to head to find out who will be going home with this year's 15 coveted awards, including Best British Soap, Villain of the Year, Best Newcomer and Best Storyline.

Phillip Schofield hosts this celebration of the only TV awards ceremony dedicated entirely to soap as it reaches its 21st anniversary. He looks back at some of the most memorable winners, including the soap icons who have scooped the outstanding achievement award, the issue-led storylines that have swept the board, spectacular scenes and the big laughs along the way. He also looks at some of the soap double acts, such as Roy and Hayley, Kat and Alfie, and not forgetting the super-villains, including Corrie's `Norman Bates with a briefcase" Richard Hillman and EastEnders' murderous bride Janine Butcher.

Phillip Schofield hosts the ceremony live from Hackney Empire, with Coronation Street, Doctors, EastEnders, Emmerdale and Hollyoaks battling it out for the 14 coveted awards. Alongside an array of soap favourites, some of entertainment's biggest names present the trophies in new categories Best Family and Best Leading Performer as well as Best British Soap, while one legend takes home this year's Outstanding Achievement Award.

Jane McDonald presents the annual ceremony from the Lowry Theatre in Salford, which celebrates and honours the incredible achievements in the nation's beloved soaps. Coronation Street, Doctors, EastEnders, Emmerdale and Hollyoaks will once again go head to head to find out who will be going home with this year's trophies, with categories including Best Dramatic Performance, Best Newcomer and the evening's biggest accolade, Best British Soap.
