Production has just commenced on the highly anticipated second season of LifeStyle Food's breakout hit from last year, The Great Australian Bake Off.Produced by FremantleMedia Australia exclusively for Foxtel, the 10-part series started filming in Sydney last week with 12 new bakers donning their aprons and taking their spot in the iconic Bake Off shed.Over the coming weeks, these home baking enthusiasts will take on up to 30 mouth-watering challenges that will test their baking prowess, creativity and skill in a bid to find the country's best baker.Culinary icon Maggie Beer and acclaimed chefMatt Moranwill once again be judging the amazing creations and determining the all-important results. Comedians Claire Hooperand Mel Buttle are also back to host the second series and lend their moral support to the bakers.
Twelve of Australia's best amateur bakers tackle three tricky cake challenges - a signature personal story cake, a tricky technical raspberry and black pepper curd cake, and a two-tiered layer cake.
Our amateur bakers bid to win a biscuit war with their Signature fondant biscuits, delicious Peanut & Choc Chip Explosive Wheels, and a spectacular Biscuit Game.
In Bread Week, our 10 remaining amateur bakers compete to make a sweet loaf, a difficult fougasse bread, and an eye-catching bread centrepiece.
In Winter Week, our remaining bakers tackle warming winter favourites - baking classic savoury pastries, a carrot and cumin tart, and creating a decorative pie with 3D art.
In Vintage Week, our remaining amateur bakers step back in time to bake filled profiteroles, a tasty beef wellington, and create a classic checkerboard cake.
In Dessert Week, 7 amateur bakers compete to create three delicious desserts: a family favourite, a beautiful layered Opera Cake with a twist and a Showstopping fun-filled Ice Cream Cake Pop.
Our amateur bakers compete to show us a tangy tropical side to baking for Citrus Week, taking on individual citrus tarts, a gin and tonic roulade and a citrus meringue creation.
The amateur bakers take a trip around the baking world with signature Turkish pides, a steamed rainbow lapis from Southeast Asia, and super-size the famous French macaron with a jacked macaron stack.
Our remaining bakers must make chocolate creations - stunning decorated chocolate cakes, a combined Technical challenge from the judges, and two different types of individual mirror glazed cakes.
Our final bakers face off to win, creating their Signature high tea, a difficult Technical Terrine set by Bake Off royalty Maggie Beer, and for their final Showstopper a 3D Illusion Cake.
