Pat and Denise go to a PTO meeting where Pat becomes determined to prove to the other moms that she's worthy. Meanwhile, Janelle gets into conflict with a teacher who is pushing all her buttons.
Pat's oldest Medicaid kid stops by for Pat's birthday and gives Pat a bigger birthday surprise than she expected.
After hearing one of Junebug's friends call him the N-word, the family has an enlightening discussion about the word and many others. Janelle gets paired up with a gender non-conforming person on a debate project.
Pat and Terry are thrown a curve ball when Ashley and Brandon's father pays a surprise visit.
Pat does a set at the local club but clashes with the black manager who tells her she's too ghetto for his crowd. Meanwhile, Terry struggles to hide a secret from Pat.
When the lights go out, Pat decides it's time for her and Denise to get jobs. Terry tries to make the best out of a complicated situation by hanging out and reconnecting with the kids.
In a Ms. Pat-style homage to "Mary Poppins," the Carson's get a visit from Pat and Denise's cousin, who helps everyone clean up their mess.
After Pat catches Terry watching porn on his phone, Denise decides they need a girls' night out to get their groove back while the kids wonder if their parents are about to split up.
When Junebug gets swindled by a drug dealer, Denise decides to help him get his money back instead of telling Pat and Terry.
