The New Adventures of Old Christine is a comedy about a divorced working mom who's juggling the daily stresses of motherhood, work and dating, while maintaining a positive relationship with her ex-husband, which is easier when his pretty new girlfriend isn't around to complicate the picture. Christine Campbell has a busy life - after all, she's prone to taking NyQuil to get to sleep and leaving voicemail messages to herself in the middle of the night. She co-owns a women's 30-minute workout gym with her best friend, Barb, and manages to send her 13-year-old son, Ritchie, to a posh private school, where she endures endless encounters with two snooty, condescending stay-at-home moms, Marly and Lindsay. Her inexperienced therapist brother, Matthew, helps Christine care for Ritchie and serves as her emotional rock. Christine gets along with her ex-husband, Richard, even better than when they were married, but since Richard's been in relationship with "new" Christine" - making her the "Old Christine" - she feels the pressure to take that same leap.
Christine and Richard agree to get back together. Then she meets Ritchie's new teacher.
Christine helps New Christine and Richard get back together. Meanwhile, she meets a hot older man.
Christine freaks out when she realises she is dating New Christine's dad.
Richard and New Christine take Ritchie to church, which prompts Christine to take him to church herself.
Barb and Pete decide to split up. Christine thinks Barb should be more depressed.
Christine gets together with Stan again. There's one reason that he's irresistible. Yes, he's a champ!
At the school gala, Christine wins a playdate for Ritchie with Mr Harris. When Ritchie can't attend the playdate, Christine meets Mr Harris instead.
Christine has to work out how she will pay for Ritchie's tuition when the cost increases.
Ritchie hasn't finished his Mission project so Christine and Matthew stay up all night to finish it before the deadline.
Now that Barb is a co-owner at the gym, she and Christine have some issues to work out.
Christine and Marly have problems when they have a car crash in the school carpark.
When Mr Harris suggests that Ritchie needs to widen his social circle, Christine and Richard get him into soccer. Ritchie makes three friends, all girls. Richard is concerned about this until Ritchie's friends become his 'wives'.
Christine has trouble with her sleep schedule after she starts opening the gym at 6am. Matthew struggles with a recent break up. Richard tries to interest Ritchie in carpentry.
Christine upsets New Christine when she takes credit for Richard's birthday gift. Big issues arise as the women compete for Richard's gratitude.
Christine is prescribed sleeping pills to help with her sleeplessness. She makes a series of embarrassing phone calls which she doesn't remember, and ends up on another date with Burton.
Richard's brother makes a confession to Christine after an awkward kiss.
Christine tries to set an example to Ritchie in regards to politics and the environment.
Christine accidentally sends a dirty email about Mr Harris to all the parents in the school, which nearly costs him his job.
Matthew has to convince Christine that Richard has matured over the years and she needs to stop treating him like she did years ago, when he becomes a contractor for Lindsay.
Christine inadvertently ruins a friend's wedding when he says her name when toasting the bride. Richard tells new Christine he doesn't want to get married again.
Christine, Richard, Matthew and Barb go to a motel to be close to where Ritchie is on his first school camping trip. After giving Richard some bad advice about new Christine, Christine and Richard end up in bed together. Meanwhile, some unresolved sexual tension re-emerges between Barb and Matthew when the car breaks down and they are stuck overnight.
Christine is worried she is pregnant after her night with Richard.
