This new magical series reveals what it's like to be a puppy or a kitten during the most important, experimental year of their lives - from the moment they are born to their first birthdays. Witness the world through their eyes and discover that beneath their cute visage lies a world full of drama, love, learning and courage. These are our most beloved pets as you have never seen them before.
Two puppies are trained to jump in and out of helicopters so they can work in the African bush, tracking down poachers hunting rhinos and elephants for their horns and ivory. In North Wales, a border collie puppy learns the basic skills of sheep herding, including judging distance and self-control, and a deaf dalmatian cross learns how to sense movement through the ground and air.
A deaf dalmatian moves into a new home, and befriends two other dogs that help him to find his way around. Two Siberian huskies join a team of dogs for the new sport of dryland dog sledding, in which they pull a sled on wheels across the Gloucestershire countryside. Two three-week-old Spinone puppies are taken under the wing of a kindly dachshund, and dogs join their human owners in pottery classes and on the dance floor.
A Chihuahua enters a fancy dress contest dressed as a warhorse, with a model knight on his back, and a troublesome terrier ends up sharing a home with an intimidating doberman. A Bernese Mountain puppy has to resist temptation during a visit to Norwich market, and a cury coated retriever takes a trip to a local loch to learn how to retrieve things from the water.
A labrador puppy goes overseas for the first time on a trip to the south of France, while a farm-dwelling Bavarian mountain hound puppy has an encounter with some much larger animals while exploring the stables. An Irish setter is taken on a boat expedition across the Norfolk Broads, and a timid border collie grows in confidence during a football game and a camping trip.
