On The Selection: Special Operations Experiment, the History Channel places 30 men and women with no military background through the most intense physical and mental challenge of their lives in the new series "The Selection: Special Operations Experiment" from executive producer, Peter Berg (Lone Survivor) and his unscripted shingle Film 45 and Bunim/Murray Productions. Trained and led by veterans of the Navy SEALs, Green Berets and Army Rangers, these instructors drive those who are willing to push themselves to the limits of the human body and mind. Instructing the 30 civilian participants are six of the finest combat veterans that range across various U.S. Special Operations units including: Veteran Navy SEALs: Marcus Capone, Ray Care and Sean Haggerty; veteran Special Forces Green Berets Donnie Bowen and Bert Kuntz, and veteran Army Ranger Tyler Grey.
U.S. Special Operations combat veterans instruct 30 civilian participants who undergo extreme training and assessment exercises, including interrogations and tear gas exposure; many of the participants will quit before day one comes to an end.
The instructors lead a grueling day of Navy SEAL training in the Pacific Ocean, where exercises in surf immersion, land portage and extreme exposure to the cold push the participants to the edge.
The instructors send the remaining 15 participants to rescue a downed pilot, an exercise designed to test the group's teamwork as well as the leadership of a select few; Instructor Haggerty leads the team on an unbelievable physical feat.
In a stealth and concealment exercise, the participants go out on the ultimate game of hide and seek, where they are tasked with camouflaging themselves in a hide-site to evade detection by the instructors.
