Take a trip to a zoo like no other, as Jürgen the silverback and his oddball gang of gorillas reveal a secret world of talking animals. From boisterous wise-guy baboons to beat boxing giant tortoises, penguins with an identity crisis and vegetarian lions - anything is possible!The series follows The Zoo's colourful cast of animals and their keepers as they go about their daily routine; from the everyday jobs such as clearing up poo and dishing out meals, to major talking points of rumoured new arrivals. With a trusty narrator to delve into the zookeepers' factual take on events, he also able to converse with the animals to uncover their side of the story, revealing comical observations and hilarious misinterpretations of events.
When news breaks that senior head keeper Matt is leaving the zoo, the search begins for the new boss. Self-appointed leader Jurgen thinks it should be him and begins his campaign to get the job. But he is not alone in thinking he was what it takes to run the zoo. Woody the baboon makes an application - highlighting his calm and reasonable nature, while Duchess, as the oldest member of the zoo, feels she has the required experience and wisdom.
It's seven years since Jurgen arrived at the zoo and each year he celebrates his anniversary, or 'zooniversary', by putting on a show, whether the zoo animals like it or not. This year he is planning a live music concert - the bunting is up, the fireworks are ready and Dave has been practicing his guitar riffs. But in a strange coincidence, Jurgen discovers that he shares his zooniversary with Carl the chameleon, who prefers a much quieter party to remember his arrival. Will either get the celebration they hope for?
With the narrator held up with car trouble, gorillas Dave and Geoffrey take over camera and interview duties with Jurgen. But as he attempts to present himself in the best light, Geoffrey and Dave have other ideas about his most entertaining moments - from being terrified of squirrels, suffering from make-believe illnesses and thinking he can 'talk human' with keepers.
A countdown of the top 10 clips from across series selected by the narrator and unenthusiastically assisted by Woody the baboon. Highlights include Geoffrey the gorilla's 'nose-flute' masterpiece, birthday cakes accidently being eaten and rapping reptiles, until Woody turns the tables on the narrator to include his 'best bits' or mishaps - from walking into doorframes to being startled by surprise lion roars.
