Anita Rani and Jules Hudson present coverage of the annual event--the largest agricultural show in England--taking place at the 250-acre Harrogate Showground.
Anita Rani and Jules Hudson present coverage of the annual event, meeting many of the showers, makers and growers as the show returns for its 162nd outing. Bradford-born Anita goes head to head with French chef Mehdi to see who can make the best Yorkshire pudding, and show novices Morgan and Natasha arrive with their Duroc pigs under the watchful eye of their mentor Jason.
Anita Rani and Jules Hudson meet fourth-generation farmer Stephen Short, who has won countless prizes for his animals over the years. In 2018, his beloved sheep won the coveted prizes of Hampshire Down Male and Female Champion, but after a less successful outing in 2019, will he be able to return to his former glory this year and make his ancestors proud? Cameras also follow Emily Turner and her four-year-old son Jack as they compete for the first time with their Golden Guernsey goats Stacey and Clementine.
Dominic Brunt tries his hand at the traditional countryside pursuit of sheepdog trialling. We meet a goat-breeding couple from County Durham who, after decades of attending the show, go head-to-head in the competition for the very last time. And Jules Hudson and Yorkshire Vet Julian Norton get hot under the collar when they visit the forge for an extreme blacksmith challenge. Elsewhere, Countryfile's Adam Henson talks rare-breed sheep and Summer on the Farm's Rob and Dave Nicholson will be hoping that their shire horse Orchid and her young foal Rosie can bring home a coveted red rosette!
Yorkshire Vet Peter Wright enters the show ring to find out what it takes to be a show judge on the 200th anniversary of the Beef Shorthorn Cattle Society. And 18-year-old Declan, a volunteer from an inner-city farm in Sheffield, hopes his large black pigs Dolce and Gabbana can win him his first ever red rosette. Away from the animal classes, we find out all about the latest innovations in must-have farming machinery, including a flat-pack tractor that you assemble yourself! In the grand finale, presenter Jules Hudson dons his jodhpurs and riding hat when he goes head-to-head with Yorkshire Vet Shona Searson in a showjumping spectacular.
