Welcome to this celebration of big hits performed at Top of the Pops on or close to the Christmas show on suitably seasonal sets. 'Tis the season to be jolly and it's not only actual Christmas-themed hits that recall the ghost of Christmases past but all the songs we bought and loved in Decembers past. Starting in December 1967 with a recently rediscovered psychedelic classic from The Rolling Stones and their 2000 Light Years from Home and ending with Coldplay's Christmas Lights from 2010, Christmas Hits include songs that peaked in Decembers gone by from Little Jimmy Osmond, Madness, Chas and Dave, The Shamen and many many more. There are hits that captured the enviable Christmas Number 1 spot from The Human League and Pet Shop Boys, hits that were just pipped to the post (guess who?), and perennial Christmas classics from the likes of Slade, The Pretenders and Frankie Goes to Hollywood.
This celebratory Christmas compilation voiced by the wonderfully sardonic - even grumpy - but festive voice of Mark Radcliffe guides us down memory lane with staple Christmas TOTP facts and performances that will create the perfect playlist for any Xmas shindig. This programme of merriment delivers the essential Christmas hits from a tinselled TOTP studio from the likes of The Pogues and Kirsty MacColl, Wizzard, Slade, Mariah Carey and The Flying Pickets, along with other vital classics from Kylie and Jason, The Darkness, Abba, The Spice Girls, Coldplay, Ed Sheeran and many more to get one and all in the festive spirit!
Steve Wright creates the perfect New Year's playlist and celebrates with a plethora of performances from the last four decades. Among the featured artists are The Three Degrees, Elton John, Joan Jett & the Blackhearts, Europe, Blondie, The Nolans, Lionel Ritchie, the Bee Gees, Madonna and Kylie Minogue.
