Nikki has a tough decision to make when her estranged daughter shows up at Waterloo Road. Elsewhere, the staff and pupils mourn Grantly, and the school's sponsored clean goes awry, worsening Christine and Simon's relationship.

The staff and pupils of Waterloo Road get all dressed up for living history week. Christine is looking to impress a visiting Robert Bain, but Simon is on a mission to prove what a bad headteacher she is - and with all the problems that occur, his task is not a difficult one.

Kacey begins to feel the pressure of people's expectations when it's revealed the school will be having a fundraising visit from an Olympic boxing champion. The arrival of enigmatic new supply teacher Frankie McGregor divides the already fractured staff room, as well as providing an unlikely companion for an increasingly isolated Lenny.

The school drama returns, and chaos descends when what appears to be a masked intruder disrupts the start-of-term assembly. However, the intruder is soon revealed to be new PE teacher Hector Reid. Meanwhile, new girl Gabriella Wark causes a bit of a stir.

In an attempt to resolve her money worries, Carol gets a temporary job in the school kitchen, until George gets in the way. Meanwhile, Nikki considers the future of her relationship with Vix, and George and Christine go on a date to the theatre.

Gabriella sees a chance to drive a wedge between Imogen and Dynasty's friendship when she offers to take Imogen on a wild night out. Meanwhile, Simon is busy organising an event to promote the Resilience Camp, but he has forgotten to clear it with a preoccupied Christine.

Christine falls spectacularly off the wagon, sending shockwaves through the school. Kacey returns to a hero's welcome, full of tales from the US, prompting a jealous Gabriella to get even with her.
