George and Katherine Papadapolis are newlyweds. George is a former Chicago Bears football player who is the godfather for his best friend's son Webster. Having just returned home from their honeymoon, they are surprised by a knock on the door from a man delivering to them a small, black child. They discover that his friend and his wife had recently been killed in an accident and they are now the legal guardians of the boy. No one is more shocked than Katherine who had no plans on having children.
