Next Episode of Westwind is
not planed. TV Show was canceled.
The adventures of the Andrews family as they sail on their boat, the Westwind. Two of the cast members on NBC-TV's Saturday morning children's show, "Westwind to
Hawaii" (original name of the series), are right at home in their new roles, the other two are working very hard to catch up. The episodes center on the adventures of the Andrews family, who live and work aboard a 41-foot ketch in Hawaii. The father is an underwater photo journalist; the mother, a marine biologist. Their teenage son and daughter are learning both occupations.
For Van Williams, who portrays the father, one aspect of the role is very familiar—the Texas-born actor was actually working as an underwater expert in Hawaii 20 years ago when he first considered an acting career. Niki Dantine, the red-haired actress who plays the mother, admits that she knows nothing about life under the sea but is rapidly learning. Kimberly Beck, the young blonde actress who appears as the Andrews' daughter Robin, is
another cast member who started from the beginning. "I'm a good swimmer," she says, "but I had never made any dives before. I have to make many during the show, so I'm working on it every spare minute." Steve Bums, who plays her brother, Tom, has proved to be a good teacher. The native Californian, who grew up in a beach community, has been diving for several years.
