Wrongly Accused is a true crime series that looks at both sides of some of the greatest miscarriages of justice in British criminal history. Hosted by Investigative Reporter Louise Shorter, the new series explores cases where lives were destroyed when individuals were wrongly accused of murders they did not commit.Louise will meet the wrongly accused, the family members involved, and those close to the case. Louise and a group of experts will interrogate how the wrongs were corrected from the original trial to put the real killer behind bars.
The stories of people accused of crimes they did not commit, beginning with 21-year-old Barri White, who was sentenced to life in prison for murdering his girlfriend
Louise and the team prove that the evidence in the case against Barri White is flawed, and conviction against him is overturned. Yet it would be 13 years after the murder before her real killer is brought to justice
A look at the case surrounding the murder of Joanna Yeates in 2010, and how her landlord Christopher Jefferies found himself under arrest on suspicion of murder
Christopher is released on bail after three days, but he is still the subject of continued speculation and hounding by the police and the press for another months.
The case of Timothy Evans, who was hanged for murdering his wife and their baby daughter. Star witness for the prosecution was his landlord, John Christie of 10 Rillington Place
With Evans hanged for a crime he did not commit, the local death toll of women was increasing - justice would eventually catch up with John Christie
Colin Stagg is imprisoned for the murder of Rachel Nickel
The murder trial against Colin Stagg collapses, but it would be 16 years before a breakthrough in DNA evidence would catch the real killer, Robert Napper.
In October 1975, schoolgirl Lesley Molseed went missing, and within days Stefan Kiszko was arrested and charged with her murder
Forensic evidence proved that Kiszko could never have committed the murder, and it would be 32 years later that the real killer would be convicted.
