She began cooking as a child in her grandmother's kitchen, where she learned to make the traditional dishes of the region. In Delicious Miss Brown, Kardea shares the family events, culture and recipes close to her heart - including Sunday supper after crabbing on the dock, a low country boil at the beach and shrimp boating to prepare for the ultimate Shrimp Fest.
Kardea Brown lets her friend and local news meteorologist Dave Williams in on her childhood dream -- to report the weather live on air! Dave makes a deal that if Kardea cooks for the crew, he'll make her dream come true. Charleston is one of the largest port cities in the United States, and Kardea Brown has family ties to the industry. Her brothers are longshoremen and have worked on the docks for a while. Kardea Brown's firefighter brother loves spicy food, so he swings by after a shift at the firehouse for a hot and spicy supper. Kardea gets fired up with Spicy Korean-Inspired Fried Chicken Wings, Kimchi Fried Rice and Spicy Cucumber Salad before cooling things down with Blackberry Milkshakes.
