In the first episode, London's Air Ambulance is dispatched to 58-year-old Peter, who has been crushed under a 400kg crate at work.
Twenty-eight-year-old Danilo has had surgery to repair his ruptured aorta following a motorbike crash. Now surgeons must fix his shattered pelvis. Twelve-year-old Lily is rushed into St George's, having been hit by a car. She was treated at the scene by emergency doctors who placed her in an induced coma; now she has a CT scan to reveal the full extent of her injuries. Meanwhile, ex-Royal Marine Wesley undergoes a complex operation using plates, screws and rods to connect his skull to his neck.
A seven-year-old arrives at William Harvey Hospital in Kent after falling 20 feet down a cliff, and as consultant Jonathan takes MRI scans to assess the damage, the seriousness is all too apparent. London's Air Ambulance are dispatched to 51-year-old Philip after his car collided with a bus, and a toddler is sent for brain scans after a TV fell on their head.
Eighteen-year-old Leyton faces multiple operations to rebuild his leg after crashing his moped, facing a recuperation of anything from six to 12 months. After a fall off a cliff, Frazer is at King's College Hospital undergoing surgery to support his unstable spine. His parents face an agonising wait for the outcome of the operation. Fifty-one-year-old Philip is suffering paralysis from the waist down after being involved in a road traffic accident. At the Royal National Orthopaedic Hospital in Stanmore, Philip begins the long road towards rehabilitation.
