A system that has improved the chances of survival for major trauma patients by 50%. Filmed during the busiest month of last summer, the series follows the minute-by-minute decisions made by some of the country's top medics, as they treat the most critically injured patients.
An air ambulance, paramedics and fire crews are dispatched to 49-year-old Paiwand, a pedestrian trapped underneath a lorry in south London, and race against time to treat his crush injuries. Thirteen-year-old Alicia has a large gaping wound on the back of her leg after crashing an electric scooter into a lamp post. Ralph, an 84-year-old with a broken femur, faces complex surgery with a 50-50 chance of survival.

Thirteen-year-old Alicia is about to have surgery after her accident with a lamp post and an E-scooter.
At King's College Hospital, specialist surgeons need to work quickly to save the foot of 87-year-old June who suffered a severe open ankle fracture when she lost her balance stepping into a taxi. After being involved in a high-speed crash on the M25, Karl is in intensive care being kept alive by a ventilator. At St Mary's, Zoltan prepares to see his children for the first time after his partial leg amputation and 20-year-old motorcyclist Daniil arrives at St George's by air ambulance after a collision with an HGV.
Ex-soldier Joe visits St Mary's Major Trauma Centre after getting drunk at an army reunion and falling down an escalator, leaving him with a fractured skull and a bleed in his brain. A 25-year-old is treated for a severe femur injury after being tackled and 46-year-old Jorge is brought in to North Middlesex University Hospital after being found unconscious with a lot of bleeding.
