Look and Read is a BBC television programme for primary schools, aimed at improving children's literacy skills. The programme presents fictional stories in a serial format, the first of which was broadcast in 1967 and the most recent in 2004, making it the longest running nationally broadcast programme for schools in the UK. The series remains popular among school children, and has also gained a cult following among those who have grown up with it.
Jackie, Butch and Trevor spot a strange, beautiful bird flying over the canal, and two bad-tempered strangers seem to be very interested in it.
The children look at a chest of drawers in a junk shop which is more interesting than it first appears.
Mr Trim wants to know more about the strange bird.
The children watch as Mr Trim knocks on the crooks' door. Is he in danger?
The children try to figure out why Mr Trim is so friendly with the crooks, and what is so special about a telegram in Welsh.
The children decode the telegram and discover there is a threat of danger.
