Bored and unhappy as the Lord of Hell, Lucifer Morningstar has abandoned his throne and retired to L.A., where he owns Lux, an upscale nightclub.Charming, charismatic and devilishly handsome, Lucifer is enjoying his retirement, indulging in a few of his favorite things--wine, women and song-–when a beautiful pop star is brutally murdered outside of Lux. For the first time in roughly 10 billion years, he feels something awaken deep within him as a result of this murder. Compassion? Sympathy? The very thought disturbs him--as well as his best friend and confidante, Mazkeen aka Maze, a fierce demon in the form of a beautiful young woman.
Lucifer suspects that his escaped mother is behind a new murder case involving a Hollywood stand-in. Meanwhile, Amenadiel demonstrates to Chloe how Lucifer can withstand bullets, and Linda questions whether she's doing Lucifer any good.
When Lucifer's mother ends up in the body of a murdered lawyer, he has to solve the murder... and figure out if his mother is telling the truth. Meanwhile, Amenadiel apologizes to Linda and discovers that his power loss is continuing.
Lucifer and Chloe investigate a case of a killer who is obsessed with punishing sins. Meanwhile, Chloe takes out her frustrations on Dan, and Amenadiel hides his worsening condition from Maze when she comes seeking his help.
Lucifer tries to distract himself from the thought that God might not be happy with the loophole he found to keep Charlotte out of Hell. Meanwhile, Charlotte gets used to her human host's life, and Maze makes a wager with Lucifer to convince Chloe to have fun.
The angel Uriel comes to Earth and gives Lucifer 24 hours to turn Charlotte over... or he'll kill Chloe. Meanwhile, Lucifer and Chloe investigate the death of an ex-action star bludgeoned to death with his own award.
Lucifer and Amenadiel both try to deal with the death of their brother, and Charlotte tries to help one of her sons as best she can. Meanwhile, Chloe teams up with Dan to solve the case of a murderous sniper, and Maze takes Trixie trick-or-treating.
After ten years, the man who shot and killed Chloe's father is released from prison... and is shot dead. With Chloe off of the case due to the conflict of interest, Dan investigates the murder and Lucifer shadows him to learn the secrets of his Dan-ness. Meanwhile, Maze tries to find a job for herself in the human world.
Lucifer discovers that someone has dug up Uriel's grave and taken the Blade of Azrael... and is using it to commit murders. Meanwhile, Linda tries to deal with the Devil as a patient, and Lucifer asks Ella for a favor.
When the man who owns his building turns up murdered, Lucifer suspects that someone is trying to drive him out of his home. Meanwhile, Charlotte sets up a date with Dan, and Maze and Amenadiel follow them.
John Decker's killer goes to trial... and Charlotte is his defense attorney. However, it's all a plan on her part to turn Chloe against Lucifer. Meanwhile, Dan realizes why Charlotte is interested in him, and Amenadiel realizes why Chloe's mother Penelope looks familiar.
After Lucifer and Chloe have an interrupted "moment," the tension between the two of them makes it difficult to investigate the murder of two victims, who happen to be Lucifer's ex-flames. Since Lucifer seems to be the only connection, interviews are conducted with his recent paramours and a surprising connection is made that helps lead them to the killer. Meanwhile, Charlotte continues to try and manipulate Chloe and Lucifer's impending romance and a larger threat is revealed.
Lucifer and Chloe investigate a poisoning case where the victims aren't the ones truly being targeted. Meanwhile, Charlotte tries to find the best way to tell Lucifer that God engineered Chloe's life.
With Chloe dying of poison, Lucifer comes up with a desperate scheme to get the antidote from Jason... even though the man is suffering in Hell. To get the ingredient, Lucifer will have to die.
Lucifer returns to LA with an "exotic dancer" as a wife, and Chloe is less than thrilled. He insists on joining her in her current case, but she isn't interested. Meanwhile, Charlotte tries to use Lucifer's new wife to find out what he plans for her.
The dean of a prestigious elementary school is murdered, and all the clues suggest that she knew her killer. Meanwhile, Lucifer realizes that he needs to tap into his deep emotions to ignite Azrael's Blade and return his family to Heaven.
An orderly is murdered at a psychiatric hospital, but Lucifer is more interested in a patient who believes that he is God... and knows who Lucifer is, and can heal with a touch.
Charlotte offers to pay a man for the final piece of the Flaming Sword. However, when he turns up dead and the item disappears, Charlotte takes a keen interest in learning who took it… and teams up with Chloe to find it. Meanwhile, the ethics board threatens to take away Linda's license, and Maze makes her feelings known to Lucifer.
Amenadiel has second thoughts about assembling the Sword, and Charlotte questions Linda about Lucifer's plans. Meanwhile, Chloe investigates the case of Chet Ruiz's murder… when Charlotte was the one who killed him.
