At her friend's urging, Jessica promises to get to the bottom of what happens and soon discovers that her death is connected to a young woman who sought refuge at the convent years ago, her dying father, and the city's mayor and his wife.

However, when the professor confirms his claims, several business owners fear an impending development project will no longer be able to proceed as plan. At this point, when the leader of the project is found murdered with a spear in his chest, Jessica has to prove George is innocent in the crime.
