Jessica heads off to New York to begin teaching and has difficulty finding an apartment. She finally gets one that she likes, only to learn that a murder recently took place in the apartment complex and that someone desperately wants something that is inside her apartment. She's relieved when Seth comes to New York to check up on her, and enlists his help in cracking the case.

Production Notes: This season is when she goes back to work as a teacher, this time in New York City. The opening segment is the third one and has the scenes shot outside of the thought bubble, and would continue to be this way from now on.

As a result, she soon discovers that Mariah has a past connection to several key Cabot Cove residents.

When that patient later dies of an apparent misdiagnosis on Seth's part, Jessica fears that foul play may be at play instead medical malpractice and sets out to prove that her hunch is right.
