Relationships, community, family, and faith are in the spotlight in Shade: Queens of NYC, a docu-follow-musical-reality show that explores what happens to New York's fiercest, funniest drag queens as they vie for fame, fortune, and love. Shade: Queens of NYC reveals a side of drag life beyond the usual glam, glitz, and next-level lip syncing, instead focusing on what happens to our queens when the wigs come off. The cast of queens includes: Justin Nako/Chelsea Piers, Chris Yoon/Jasmine Rice LaBeija, William Bailey/Jada Valenciaga, Nathan McManus/Holly Box-Springs, Kristian Seeber/Tina Burner, Marti Gould Cummings/Marti Gould Cummings, Daniel Kelley/Paige Turner, and Jesse Havea/Brita Filter.
Marti and Blake decide to record a Christmas album in benefit of the Ali Forney Center with the help of fellow queens and Broadway legends. But the stress of its creative process is weighing heavy on their marriage.
For her final performance in So You Think You Can Drag, Holly decides to do a spoken word lip sync to Kathy Griffin's stand-up show. Although Paige is excited for the grand finale, she can't help but feel sad about saying goodbye to her beloved competition.
Tina takes the girls on a road trip to Atlantic City for the Miss'd America pageant. It's Tina's second time competing and she's determined to take home the crown with her political number. Back in New York, Brita's enjoying a day off with her mother.
Marti takes his political ambitions to the next level by campaigning for Marisa Redanty and Tom Shanahan as the new district leaders. Will he be able to convince the people in his neighborhood to get out there and vote? Jada writes a song about her troubled past to inspire LGBTQ kids to persevere in difficult times.
