Still Open All Hours is a BBC television sitcom, a sequel to the 1973 series Open All Hours. The show was based around Granville, now running the corner shop with his son Leroy after inheriting the shop from his Uncle Arkwright.
Uncle Arkwright has long-gone, and Granville is running the corner shop with his son Leroy, the result of a one-night stand in Blackpool. Granville is unlucky with the ladies however his son is a hit. Granville wants to be able to get back in with his old-flame Mavis, however, he is having trouble getting past her sister Madge. Will Granville finally find a way to get to his former lover?
In the early hours of Valentine's Day, Granville decides to climb a ladder leading to his beloved Mavis' room, in the hope of leaving a card. Unfortunately as he does so, he falls off ladder. In order to spend some time with Mavis, Granville arranges for Madge to spend some time with his customer Gastric. Unsurprisingly Madge is unimpressed.
Granville is anxious to obtain the custom of Old Bentinck, who crosses the road rather than come into the shop and sends Leroy to find out about the man's shopping preferences. Learning that he likes a particular cereal Granville puts it on special offer but ends up out of pocket when other customers buy it instead. Efforts to make Gastric attractive to Madge with an ill-fitting wig are as disastrous as the sale of an umbrella to Wet Eric, proving that it really is bad luck to open one indoors.
After showing Leroy how to make out of date bacon look edible Granville tries to get Nurse Gladys to give him romantic tips he can pass onto Gastric in his reluctant efforts to woo Madge - though Madge does not want to be wooed, especially after Gastric's disastrous attempt to climb a ladder to her bedroom window. Leroy is embarrassed when Granville makes him pedal to rickshaw to publicize the shop though at least Granville saves him from a jealous boyfriend with a box of broken fruit pies.
As Granville prepares to open a coffee bar in the back yard of the shop and to sell unsuspecting customers out of date salami which he passes off as life-giving 'yaggis' Wet Eric is stuck with trying to cheer up visiting brother-in-law, the permanently depressed Lester. Needless to say the grand opening of the coffee bar leaves everybody feeling depressed due to faulty furniture and an exploding coffee machine.
Granville has bought a huge job lot of herbal remedies which he cannot shift but, taking his cue from a salesman who advocates the use of a gimmick, advertises them as Old Mother Hemlock's Ancient Remedies and persuades Gastric to drag up as the lady herself. The customers are unimpressed until Old Mother Hemlock appears to mend Madge's broken car, after which her healing hands cause an increase in sales of the previously unsellable commodity.
Granville believes that the ghost of Arkwright is haunting the shop and he arranges a séance - actually to convince Madge to date Gastric, though of course it goes wrong. However he really does look as if he has seen a ghost when he gets a visit from the abrasive Linda - a face from the past who wants something that he has.
Looks like something went completely wrong!
