"Saints" is a travel show in which a young Orthodox blogger will try to repeat the exploits of Seraphim of Sarov, Nil of Sor, Ksenia of St. Petersburg and other saints. Host Seraphim Sashliev will have to go through many tests, from hand-feeding a bear to cutting his head bald. The goal of the project is to find recipes for a fulfilling life today in the exploits of the Saints.
This project is about people who managed to become better themselves. The discovery of God inspired them to develop useful qualities in themselves, and allowed them to live in joy and resilience to what was happening around them. Each issue features permanent experts - a psychologist and a priest.
The release of the "Saints" project is dedicated to one of the most famous and at the same time unknown saints - St. Nicholas the Wonderworker. Everyone knows Santa Claus, but few know about the life of the man who served as his prototype. We will talk about the life of the saint and, together with the presenter, we will try to pass a series of tests related to episodes in the life of St. Nicholas. Our presenter will have to take care of a low-income family, master the basics of navigation, learn how to defend himself against bladed weapons, find out whether he is ready to suffer for the truth and even go to prison.
The name of the hero of this issue is known to few, which is a pity. Saint Innocent of Moscow lived an amazing life, full of adventures. He was born in a small Siberian village and became the Moscow Metropolitan, but he was not a careerist; on the contrary, he spent his whole life wandering, enlightening the inhabitants of Alaska, Siberia and the Far East. Following the example of our hero, the presenter will try himself as a missionary, go to the reindeer herders and spend a day full of troubles with them, learn what real frost is, and also conduct a quest for teenagers in the main temple of the country.
It often happens that a person seeks fame and recognition, but instead covers his name with shame. But with saints, the opposite often happens - a person hid from worldly fame and became famous. This happened with Saint Nile of Sora. He spent his entire life in solitude, in a forest monastery, and became one of the famous Russian ascetics.
Holy people develop the best qualities in themselves, but there is one type of saints - holy fools - who became famous not for humility and wisdom, but, it seems, on the contrary - for provocative behavior and madness. The word "holy fool" actually means "ugly", "crazy". The heroine of this issue, Blessed Ksenia of Petersburg, also belongs to the holy fools.
St. Sergius of Radonezh is perhaps the most famous Russian saint, who played an important role both in the history of the Church and in the history of our fatherland. We will trace the life of this great ascetic, from childhood to old age.
This time we will talk about the most unknown and at the same time great saint - Serapion Sindonite. He lived far from us and for a very long time, it is unlikely that in Rus' there are at least a couple of churches in his honor, but it's a pity, there is a lot to learn from this saint. This is what our presenter will do.
Today's saint became famous for his severe feats, which few saints dared to undertake. His name is Simeon the Stylite, he even invented a new type of feat - standing on a pillar. Our presenter will also have to show ingenuity - learn a long poem by heart, overcome the fear of snakes, complete a task while in complete darkness, get water, and of course - stand on a real pillar.
This time everything will be a little different. We will tell you about three holy women at once - Holy Princess Elizabeth, Blessed Matrona and Venerable Mary - each of whom faced losses in life, they lost something valuable or gave up something valuable, but did not regret it.
Another collection consisting of three stories, this time our heroes will be three holy men - St. Luke (Voino-Yasenetsky), the noble prince Alexander Nevsky and the Old Testament hero Samson. Each of them in their lives solved a difficult moral problem - what to do with their enemies?
Looks like something went completely wrong!
But don't worry - it can happen to the best of us,
- and it just happened to you.
